'Friends' Finale Gets Quick DVD Turnaround If your power goes out and you miss the "Friends" series finale on May 6, Warner Bros. Home Video has your back.A DVD of the hour-long finale (44 minutes or so without commercials) will hit stores within a week after the episode airs, Warner Bros. says. The episode is scheduled for release on DVD Tuesday, May 11.While such a short time between initial airing and home video is pretty much unheard of, the finale of "Friends" has actually been in the can for close to two months. The cast taped the final episode in February, filming some scenes outside the presence of an audience to keep the show's ending a secret.NBC has been hyping the "Friends" finale all season and will turn the last episode into a two-hour affair, including a retrospective special. The episode should draw huge ratings, and Warner Bros., which produces the series, obviously expects a hefty demand for the finale on DVD.Sales of recent "Friends" DVD collections seem to bear out such predictions. The seventh-season collection, which hits stores Tuesday (April 6), is already No. 4 in Amazon.com's DVD sales rankings, thanks to pre-orders, while the sixth-season set, released in January, ranks at No. 34.It's unclear whether the DVD of the finale will include any extra material.
